Terms of Use
Sebak is an iPhone app by COMMERCIUM LIMITED (company number 16456125, England and Wales) for learning the Quran a few verses a day. By installing or using it you accept these terms and Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (EULA). Where the two differ, these terms add to the EULA and do not limit your rights under it.
1. What Sebak is
- Every verse of the Quran and every translation of its meanings in the App is quoted verbatim from a named source, shown with it: the Arabic text from the Tanzil Project (CC BY 3.0) and the translations from QuranEnc.com, each with its translator and version. We do not write, summarise or interpret religious content ourselves.
- A translation conveys the meanings of the Quran; it is not the Quran itself.
- The listening teacher is a learning aid. It compares your recitation with the text using a speech model on your device and can be wrong. It is not a substitute for a qualified teacher, and nothing in the App is a religious ruling (fatwa).
2. The subscription
- The Quran, the translations of its meanings and the recitation are free. A subscription opens the listening teacher and the daily path.
- The subscription is offered monthly or yearly as an auto-renewable subscription. Prices are shown in the App before you buy, in your local currency. Where a free trial is offered, it is shown before you subscribe, and the subscription starts at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the subscription stays open until the end of the period you paid for.
- The subscription can be shared with up to six people through Apple’s Family Sharing.
- Purchases are sold by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Use “Restore purchases” to open the subscription again on a new device signed in to the same Apple Account.
3. Using the App
- You may use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes.
- The quoted texts and recitations remain subject to the licences of their sources, listed in the App under Settings › Sources and licences.
- Reverse engineering, modifying, reselling or misusing the App is prohibited, except where the law allows it.
4. Liability
- The App is provided “as is”. We check every text against its source before each release, but do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free. If you find a difference from a source, please tell us.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
- Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the twelve months before the claim.
5. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the current text is published on this page and linked from the App. Governing law: England and Wales; if you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country.
